Our St.
John members take part in activities of a wide variety. They are as below:
Camps
Camps, held twice a year, have many special items which train cadets' toughness and
endurance. Of course, it can also be fun too.
Combined Activities
Through get-togethers with other divisions' members, we get to learn more about St. John
and know more friends.
Competitions
The Zonal and National First-Aid Competitions, held annually, are when our members compete
with other divisions in Singapore.
First Aid
The most important activity. We learn how to treat wounds and injuries, anything from the
common graze wound to the life-threatening heart attack, as well as the use of bandages,
splints and other materials.
Footdrill
Though marching or stationary drill might sound easy, this activity requires much practice
to perfect the platoon's 'hand-swing', dressing, coordination and so on.
TOC (Transportation-of-Casualty)
The techniques of moving casualties to an ambulance from a possibly dangerous place.
Cadets have to be flexible in deciding how to overcome obstacles and use as little time as
possible.
Others
Other activities besides those named above include those that our members participate in
in order to gain Proficiency Badges, such as campcraft, swimming, hiking and others.
